sleep -

one of two portrait projects I've got going at the moment - who was it who once said it's hard to dislike someone when they are asleep? probably true if only because with no eye contact, there's no threat to the power of the beholder.

i have begun by asking some family and friends to sit for awhile, close their eyes and relax. gradually a calm descends. and after a minute or so i take a few photos. it is a very quiet moment.
